Denver Career Counseling Assessments
I offer two career assessments that can be very helpful in clarifying the types of careers and occupations that might be a good fit for you. They are optional, and I do not require that you take them in order to work with me. When you come in for an appointment, we will discuss whether it makes sense for you to take either of these assessments, and you can decide what you would like to do.
If you do decide to take one or both of them, you will take them online at your convenience, and we'll discuss the results during one or more career counseling sessions.
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator assesses personality type. This is a very popular assessment, and you may have seen examples of its four-letter combinations (like INFP or ESTJ). The Myers-Briggs can help you answer such questions as:
- What types of work settings might be the most appropriate and fulfilling for me?
- What types of activities and environments are energizing for me? Which are more draining?
- What kind of activities and projects am I most likely to enjoy at work?
- What might be some of the reasons I am having a hard time getting along with my boss or a particular coworker?
Here is a sample Myers-Briggs report. The cost for this report is $50. I will also provide you with additional written information about the personality type that comes up for you.
I am now offering an extended Myers-Briggs report, the Step II, which goes into more depth and detail than the standard Myers-Briggs. Here's a sample Step II report. It comes with an interpretation manual, and the cost for this report is $90. I will also provide you with additional written information about the personality type that comes up for you.
The Strong Interest Inventory asks you questions about your interests and gives you a report showing some occupations that people who share your interests are typically happy in. This is not that "test" you may have taken in high school that said "You should be a farmer, a banker, etc.!" Rather, it might give you some ideas of things you have not previously considered, and it can help guide our conversation regarding your interests and related jobs that might appeal to you.
Here is a sample Strong report. The cost for this report is $35.
